Reproduction antique dolls are dolls made today, but which are copies of dolls made over 100 years ago. These dolls have heads which are porcelain poured in molds of the older dolls.
Often the arms, sometimes the legs, and occasionally, for small dolls also the bodies are also poured in porcelain. The bodies are then made of cloth or material called composition (compo).

These dolls must be painted in the same patterns as the original antiques were painted, although, because the originals were toys, while the reproductions are art,
the painting must achieve the best goals of the original designer, even if the painting of some of the antiques was not as good.
They must also be dressed in styles appropriate to their period, again well made out of the best natural fibers.

Each reproduction is a one of a kind hand painted work of art bringing both the character of the artist and that of the sculptor to the end product.

Note: handmade means made with care by an artist who sewed the dress, but the work was done using a sewing machine. All prices are in Canadian dollars.
